What's up?

Good news:
- We're writing some new jams in preparation for recording with the lovely Morgan Keown this summer. We're aiming for a 5 or 6-song EP.
- New shirts are on their way. We'll have the design up shortly. You will dig it. The crosses shirt is almost done with, though, so if you wanted one, get in touch or forever wait till someone else makes the same thing for their band.
- We're open to booking shows this summer. Keep your ears to the ground for a few out-of-town dates.

Bad news:
- We're lazy at updating internet stuff. Follow us on facebook. Or Twitter. Yeah. @blackfaxes -- seriously.
- Deleted the myspace, but you didn't even remember that site, so no big deal. We will still accept messages proposing marriage from kind-hearted single ladies from far-away countries, though. Especially if they all have the same info, picture and messages. RIP myspace.

That is all. On a personal note, "Music From The Elder" by KISS: best KISS album.

One Time at Bandcamp...

We put stuff up for sale/download/listening on Bandcamp.com. So much better than myspace, if only because it isn't myspace. Grab some shit, party hard, and go listen to some live music.

Blackfaxes.bandcamp.com - check it out!

Speaking of live music, the show with Mad Men last night was rad. Great sets all around, and an awesome turnout. Note to self: Only plat venues where you can get huge buckets of water for personal consumption.

Concrete plans

We have some shows(look to the right). We have some new shirts (hello inverted crosses, sorry SST -- don't sue us).

Things are pretty good. As mentioned, there was some live recording done at studio three for EqualizingXDistort. It was rad, and Stephe only busted our balls slightly. Looking forward to seeing his Agnostic Front tribute band when they hit the bar 'n grill circuit.

I know we always say we're going to record, and then we don't really get it done the way we intend, but fuck you, we're artists. Well, the other guys are. I'm more of a vampire, myself. Point being, we'll get around to it, but for a band that hasn't actually managed to sit down and do a proper recording, we've got three releases out now. You can download all three from mediafire:

First demo (2010): http://www.mediafire.com/?3yu4myq3dho
Double Happiness/Upon the Vine: http://www.mediafire.com/?druuld0hahjv000
EXD session: http://www.mediafire.com/?nyoi9zabrxeiog6

Now you can become our biggest fan and then put the naked woman shirt on ebay and put the reserve real high!

But seriously, come check out the show this Wednesday. Deathrats will be incredible, we'll(read: me, Peter) try not to fuck up much, and good times will be had by all.

Rip it

Good news: recording is finally coming about. We are lazy old assholes, but for serious, recording will happen, and you will hear new songs, old favourites, and Graham's A Capella version of the Pretenders' "I'll Stand By You". That one is only available on limited run 8-track, but you get the idea.

What else is up? We went back to being a four-piece. Two guitars just wasn't what we needed at this point, and D'Arcy is owning the punkosphere with Snakepit(probably one of the best bands going right now. Holy fuck go see them), and they are destroying your ideals as I type this. I bet you used to value tranquility -- NOT ANY MORE! Kidding, but they are amazing. We're also playing a show with them(see the sidebar) on August 10th at the Bovine. Come party for my birthday.

That's all for now. Don't give up your personal freedom, mmmmkay?

Now that May is dead and gone for 2009, we have a variety of interesting and truly fascinating news reports. Here are some of the more immediate matters taking precedence in the world of Black Faxes(and beeeeeeeyond):

- Show this Wednesday, June 3rd at 751. There may be a lot of amplifiers taking up space, so come early and avoid the shame often associated with the failure you'd experience otherwise. Remember, it's FREE, and we're warming it up for Ball Harness(check out their new material), and muthafuckin' AKROID. Three highly attractive bands, one night, and we're tearing it up in the name of Cancer Research. Donate some cash, or buy one of the shirts Lindsey has been making BY HAND. Don't sleep on this.

- The Dave and Chuck show appearance has been postponed until they move into their new studio, but all this means is a period of truly unrealized, fantastic incubation. Prepare for it!

- Peter and Marty's other band, the Blackouts, are playing their final show ever. Tina wants out of the family business, and no amount of severed horse heads can change her mind. So, June 21st, the Blackouts will be killing it opening for the Vibrators. Tina has tickets. Buy one(or many, it'll help you make cool and interesting friends).

- We won't have those demos for the show, but we'll have them soon. We may put up 'Hog Futures' and a special cover jam for your aural pleasures. Lick the dirt and keep alert like Chuck Norris.

- On a final, unrelated and personal note, Amebix playing live is approved by Graham and myself.

Sacred Heart Of Jesus, b'y!

So, this is our maiden voyage; our foray into pointless, derivative, and(most importantly) inane blogging, where we will inundate you with information about shows, releases, our favourite colours, and pretty much anything we can fill up an entry with.

I'd like to take a moment and discuss the naming of a band. Some folks get it down in the first try, no questions asked. Others, not quite so easy. While we weren't exactly gnashing our teeth when it came to settling on a name, we came up with a few good ones. Two, in particular that we really liked, both with reasons pro et contra. However, much like Seal, Madonna, Sade, or Samwell, we could only choose one. We chose 'Floods', which is a pretty cool name. So cool, in fact, that aside from the eighty-thousand people using the name because it was that cool, there were another forty-million who were Pantera fans, and nothing against Pantera(y'all know we're cowboys from hell at heart), but we decided to leave the name to a legion of those who truly understand Phil Anselmo's pain.

So, we deliberated, and stuck it out with Black Faxes. Yeah, another Black _____ band. If you're truly hip, I won't need to explain what a 'black fax' is, but I think you're beautiful and unique regardless, so here goes: A prank facsimile transmission, named after the black loop of paper that you send to a mark(usually corporations or whomever) in order to tie up their fax lines, and ultimately waste the toner, ink, and/or paper in their fax machines.

We're hoping to record in the next week or so, which means we'll be posting some tracks on our myspace, and ultimately making the demo available for all who choose to download it, or buy a copy at shows.

That's all for now.
